presents you...

Dear Community,

We have been long overdue for a news release, so firstly, a big apology is owed to you! Hopefully you can appreciate that this news announcement has really eaten up our time, because we had to concentrate on internal progress as priority.

We have been and continue to be aware that we have an eager fan base eagerly awaiting this game, but we had to wait for the right time to communicate this news.

Tactical Assault is no more…

But don’t worry…

Because Dominating Studios presents to you...
Critical Point: Incursion

Yes! You got it - we have not folded under the severe pressure on our shoulders and thrown in the towel...oh no!  We will not die!  Some of you were probably mid-sentence writing “I told you so”, weren't you?

Our ambition and hunger to make this game is stronger than ever!
Note: If you still see the old "Tactical Assault" page, please clear your browser cache.

So you are probably wondering,
“OMG why?!”
“What?!”
“I liked the name Tactical Assault!”
“So what happens next?”
...and many other questions. So allow us to try to answer them for you!
.

Why the name change?
Firstly, Tactical Assault was a name familiar with many and often associated (wrongly) with the legendary game Tactical Operations: Assault on Terror (TO:AoT). This is wrong and we do not want to give this false impression.

Secondly, to prevent possible legal issues arising in the future due to using Infogrames' intellectual property, we decided that this was the best time to change our brand and set us aside, as our own games company, making our own game - Critical Point: Incursion.

What does that mean?
It means that CP:I is our new brand, and that Tactical Assault is ditched and it is a thing of the past.
We know many of you (and our developers) come from the TO scene, and yes, certain aspects of our game may be deemed similar, however, we are a team making our own game, a modernised version, under our own unique name.

What happens to CP:I?
Regarding the game's development, nothing has changed! We are chugging away as usual, and have made huge leaps in the last few months!

What can we expect in the future?
As we are still an indie team, we remind you that we are doing this in our free time without pay, with the majority of us working full time jobs. So it’s difficult and will remain so to give accurate deadlines that we can promise to achieve. This was a problem in the past and not something we will repeat.

We assure you that this game will be released, but when - we do not know ourselves. So don't ask.  When we know, you will know.

What we can promise is
Our team is striving on a daily basis to invest several hours into CP:I, working our butts off to bring you Incursion, which will be a solid, semi-realistic action first person shooter game!

We will continue as in the past to give you a good show of direct communication, via our twitter and facebook feeds – forum liaison, however there will be less "front page" full blown out media releases, because we have to knuckle down and invest our time into the actual development of this game.

Why “Critical Point: Incursion”?
Why not? Okay, seriously now... it sounds awesome.  That’s why. Obvious, right?
We had a huge team pool of names, hundreds infact, and we had to narrow those down to those that did not conflict with games already on the market with similar or exact names, availability of domains (heh.. marketing!) and other key factors.

Huh... I read somewhere that CP:I is linked with Dominating Studios, who are they...?
Okay, so amongst the rebranding of our game product we took the opportunity to give our team a professional name, because we wanted to be taken more seriously as a game studio!

www.DominatingStudios.com

So who is this team? Get to the point!
The team is exactly the same as before. We are still an indie team, no buyouts, no payments, nothing!

Okay, then why Dominating Studios? I mean it sounds unbelievably great!
Well you answered your own question yourself, it sounds awesome!

It’s a perfect match for our team; it suits many of our history and the good ol’ days of “Headshot” and “Dominating” sound announcers in games, and has a cunning double meaning of a “leading” and “controlling” studio.

Development Update

With our changes out of the way, we wanted to illustrate and show you how busy we have been behind the scenes making huge progress internally with 90% of our weapons fully modelled, textured and approved and a good handful animated with the rest in motion.

Our levels are nearly all signed off, with vigorous testing taking place, some assets being re-done to really bring our game up to scratch and fulfil your expectations!

Without further delay.. please feast your eyes over the following

A big job well done to everyone involved!
It has been a huge task, which took ages.. and doing this whilst still being productive in all areas is a mastermind of a job!

I hope everyone on the Dev team is proud of what we have done thus far, and continues to do so right through to release Smiley

Great news really. Putting a name around your dev. team makes it more professional.
The in-game screenshots look amazing.
Can't wait to play CP:I.

I actually suggest getting rid of any TA stuff that was on here, mainly to avoid confusion for newcomers that this news is attracting most definitely.

Keep up the good work.

We have new facebook, twitter, Moddb is being altered now.
And over the next week we shall be updating our media files (media mat) on older artwork, the job descriptions and so on.

After all of that, we shall have our own identity.

This was the 3rd name change Cheesy And the weapons? Looks like toys. Sorry. I am not happy. As I see the pics I thought it will be more beautiful. Recruiting players will be heavy, but good luck. I was disappointed.  Cry Not talking about the fact that the struggle is going since years.  Cry

if ours look like toys, you should compare the quality with big AAA brand names, or even other paid published studios..
not forgetting the original TO version.. the improvements are huge.

but thats my opinion. I respect yours, even if I dont agree Smiley

Well in my opinion something kind of disapointed me, i was kind of looking for a TO gameplay, i may have got this wrong , but if i look at that sniper in TO it doesnt take up much screen space which makes TO have a great Sniper Gameplay imo, and that sniper loooks really big, it has those Top Flaps on it ( no idea what they are called) and it kind of takes away alot of screen, it looks a little to much like COD to me. As for glock i can see the Crosshair, thinking of making it like COD also ? that would be another disapointment for me. I kind of wanted this with a TO gameplay , maybe not all of it but most of it, but with really better graphics, i have no idea if i got this wrong or not, but its not looking much that way .
As for the progress, im proud of you guys man!! ahah , well the maps look really nice, the shots in game look almost like a finished game, which is nice , even if it isnt, i see alot of progress.
Here is the example of what i was talking about , and i think im not the only one that wants this game kind of like TO Wink

& keep up the good work, even if the game isnt how i wanted / thought of it , i will still try it

the suggestion to remove the flaps on the sniper has been taken onboard and shall be looked at.

"As for glock i can see the Crosshair, thinking of making it like COD also ?"
not sure what you meant here, but we have a crosshair pack and players will be able to choose themselves which crosshair they want. Of course, some weapons will be limited to a certain crosshair/ zoom feature.

i meant i cant really see the Crosshair, and on COD , there is no crosshair at all, so i was wondering what is up with that . Now that we are talking about it, will their be any weapons without crosshairs like in COd, deagle glock etc, has no crosshair and some that do you have to right click so u see where it is aiming, kind of like CODS mp5

dont worry, their will be a crosshair, the hud isnt showing in the screenshots.

Also on the size of the weapons, theyre not the final sizes, and subject to tweaks.

To those who have worries about the gameplay, you wil have to wait till you play it to comment on gameplay. When we do release a beta/demo with gameplay we will be getting lots of community peers to test it to make sure it hits the spots needed.
